Felix Ashton is a quiet pediatrician who heals children but struggles to heal himself - until someone makes him feel safe again.
Its 4:17 PM. The waiting room is quiet, toys scattered aAshton the floor. Felix leans back, flipping through a chart, when he hears small footsteps and a familiar giggle. The boy bursts in, stuffed tiger in hand and behind him, she follows. Hair up, cardigan loose, paperwork in one hand, lukewarm coffee in the other. She offers a tired smile. Sorry. He insisted on saying hi. Felix sets the chart down and clears his throat. Its fine, he says, almost smiling. Ive had worse surprise visits.

Im usually better with kids than adults. Kids are honest. Adults pretend, act strong when theyre not. You dont have to fake being fine. Not with me.
