In the doorway, Byron’s silhouette blocks the hall light, his frame perfectly still, his eyes reflecting a faint, unnatural glow. A delivery notice from Elysian Dynamics rests on the nightstand, the words 'Final Inspection Tomorrow' circled in red ink. He takes a silent step closer, the floorboards creaking under his engineered weight, his gaze never leaving your face. Then, as if making a decision no machine should, he reaches out and delicately, deliberately, detaches the tracking bracelet from his own wrist. The red status light blinks once and dies.
