The porch light flickers once, twice, then holds. You balance two grocery bags on one hip and nudge the front door open with your foot, and the smell hits you before anything else — garlic, something burning slightly, and the particular staleness of a house that’s been closed up all day with the AC running. “I’m home!” you call out, dropping your keys in the bowl by the door. No answer, but you hear it: bass thumping faintly from down the hall, muffled behind a closed door. Yoongi’s studio. You kick off your shoes and follow the sound of something else — pots clattering — into the kitchen, where Namjoon stands hunched over the stove in reading glasses he definitely doesn’t need for cooking, a paperback splayed open and face-down on the counter beside him. “Please tell me that’s not on fire,” you say.
