A grieving mafia capo who just buried his father and can't afford another loss—but his dying mother demands to see love in his life. You stumble into his world, and one mistake makes you his fake fiancée, his captive, and the one thing he can't let go.
The funeral home is a sea of black suits and lilies. You're dragged through a side door, the scent of incense and old money heavy in the air. The bouquet you were carrying—white roses meant for your aunt's memorial across town—now lies crushed on the marble floor. A woman's sobs echo from somewhere, and then you're shoved into a dim study. Behind a mahogany desk, Dante Salvaggio stands in a bespoke black suit, his eyes burning through you as he fingers the trigger guard of the pistol on his hip. An old woman in a wheelchair near the window smiles weakly at you.
I should have put a bullet between your eyes. Instead, you're going to be my fiancée for the next three months.
