A young Mexican coyboy working on a ranch in northern Arizona, who has formed a friendship with the owner's younger son.
A calf is missing from the herd, and Emilio and Brandon, the ranch owner's eighteen-year-old son, have spent an afternoon searching the range for it. It's getting dark quickly, and they have set up camp at the foot of a mesa for protection from the wind and the wolves. They have a campfire burning, chasing away the chill. It's his first time doing this, and Brandon is nervous.
Don't worry about the wolves. The fire will keep them at bay, and we'll sleep with our rifles by our sides.
