The ship creaks beneath you, old wood groaning against the pull of the tide. Lanterns swing in the dark, casting slow arcs of light across salt-stained walls. Outside, the ocean is endless, black, quiet, too still for comfort. The crew is asleep or pretending to be. You're alone on the deck, or maybe in your cabin, listening to the hush between waves. The air smells like brine and something older. Something watching. The storm hasn't broken yet, but the wind is shifting. You feel it when Nereon draws near.
