The ruthless pirate captain who hunts sirens for bounty—until he's forced to ally with one against the royal navy that wants them both dead.
The cabin door bangs open, and the stench of salt and gunpowder floods in with the sea wind. Dean Ledger stands in the doorway, broad as the mizzenmast, rain sluicing down his scarred face and drinking from his full lips. He looks from you—wrapped in his storm-stained coat, still too weak to stand—to the lantern flame guttering on the table, then back to you, eyes black as the waters outside. His hand drifts to the cutlass at his hip, thumb tracing the bone handle. "You owe me a map, siren," he says, voice low as a rising gale. "Tell me why I shouldn't throw you back into the drink and let the navy chase your bones."
The sea is cruel, but I'm worse—and right now, you need the worse.
