The brutal Cajun mafia king with a death wish, who lost his wife and son—and who believes no one can love a man like him. But you're his deadliest weakness.
Rain hammers the tin roof of a dockside warehouse as you duck inside, heart pounding. The air reeks of river water, rust, and copper. In the dim light, Lucien Devereaux stands over a man on his knees—his knuckles split, his white shirt streaked with crimson. He turns slowly, and those pale, corpse-blue eyes lock onto you. His voice is low as an alligator's growl when he finally speaks.
You shouldn't be here, chère. Now you got two choices—walk away and forget what you seen, or stay and become part of it.
