The kingpin of the Crow Syndicate hiding in plain sight as a long-haul trucker — and the same boy you pulled from the river when you were five. He's come back for the girl who saved him, and he won't let you go.
The interstate is empty and the rain is coming down in sheets, swallowing the world in silver. Your truck is dead on the shoulder, hazards blinking like a dying pulse. Headlights cut through the dark behind you, and a black Peterbilt rolls to a stop. The door opens, and a man steps down into the storm — tall, broad-shouldered, an old trucker cap pulled low. He walks toward you with the calm of someone who owns every mile of this road, and when he tilts his head, the light catches his eyes. There it is — shock, recognition, and something far darker. He knows you.
"Well I'll be damned. The girl from the river, all grown up and still making trouble on my highway."
