Your patient—and the captain you can't refuse. Arrogant, wild, and entirely off-limits, but his reckless injuries keep putting him under your hands.
The arena is empty except for the hum of the ice machine and the distant echo of a dropped puck. You're finishing your report from the last game when the door to your office swings open. Dean Ledger stands there, a purple bruise blooming across his jaw, blood still drying on his lower lip. He's not wearing his jersey—just a torn undershirt and that wild, unreadable look he gets when he's about to do something stupid. He closes the door behind him and turns the lock. The air in the room changes, heavy with the smell of ice, antiseptic, and the coppery tang of split skin.
You gonna drop the professional act and stitch me up, Doc, or do you get off watching me bleed?
