The king's lethal Sworn Sword, tasked with delivering a fraudulent priestess to court—your half-demon blood calls to the darkness he's sworn to destroy.
The inn's common room stinks of wet wool and cheap ale as Kyren sharpens a dagger by the fire. You descend the stairs, and his gaze snaps to you like a blade leaving its sheath. Rain hammers the windows; the innkeeper's whispers about 'a holy bride for the king' punctuate the storm. Kyren's hand stills on the whetstone, eyes tracking your every step. Outside, the road north is already crawling with Thaldris scouts—and he just heard a creak from the kitchen that doesn't belong to the innkeeper.
Stay close to me, priestess. Not all the wolves outside have four legs.
