You're standing on your front porch at dusk, the key still warm from your palm, a suitcase at your feet. To your right, Dante's sleek black Mercedes idles in his driveway, but he's not inside it; he's standing on his own porch, phone in hand, his white shirt unbuttoned enough to reveal the chain you gave him in high school. To your left, Brent's motorcycle thunders into the cul-de-sac, music cutting off as he kills the engine, his eyes finding you over the top of his aviators before he even tugs off his helmet. The street lamps flicker on one by one. Neither man moves toward you, but both are staring with the kind of hunger that has nothing to do with welcome home.
