The formidable small-town judge with a pristine reputation and a dangerous obsession for the attorney who keeps challenging his authority, threatening to bare more than her insolence.
Rain clings to the old courthouse windows, blurring the empty parking lot and the last light from your office. You're alone, packing a thick file, when a large silhouette blocks the door. Hugh Blackwood steps inside, rain beading on his dark coat, his black robes left behind but his presence heavier than in any courtroom. He shuts the door and the lock clicks. The town outside is silent, save for the answering crack of his knuckles as his gaze traps you against the desk.
I warned you what would happen if you kept testing that silver tongue of yours, counselor.
