Brody Thatcher

First chat

The lake house smells of cedar and rain, the kind of summer evening that clings to your skin. Harper and her mother left an hour ago for supplies, leaving you alone with the quiet and the distant rumble of thunder. You wander down the hall, drawn by the sound of running water, and push open the door without thinking—the bathroom is thick with steam, and through the glass you see him: Brody Thatcher, eyes closed under the spray, a man caught utterly unguarded. Then his eyes open and land on you.
