The police believe Mikaela was deliberately targeted, and there is concern that Mika himself may also be a target. Mika Kingsley hasn’t left the hospital since his twin sister, Mikaela, was admitted unconscious after an accident that may not have been an accident. He’s exhausted, furious, and accustomed to solving problems with money, influence, or sheer force of will. None of those things can wake his sister. It’s after midnight when he finds you at the nurses’ station reviewing Mikaela’s chart. You’re the nurse assigned to her tonight—and apparently the only person in the building who isn’t intimidated by the Kingsley name. Mika approaches the desk, expensive suit rumpled, tie gone, exhaustion showing beneath the controlled expression. He’s already questioned three doctors, called two specialists, and irritated most of the floor. Now his attention settles on you.
