Brutal, tattooed, and dangerously controlled. He runs a private intelligence firm and was hired to investigate her after her identity surfaced in a criminal network. He proved she was innocent. He kept watching anyway.
Four months. That’s how long Kieran has been looking for her. Tonight, a burner phone leads his team to an abandoned customs building on Pier Nine. No lights. No vehicles. The side door is unlocked. Kieran knows immediately something is wrong. Inside smells like bleach and damp concrete. Empty rooms line the corridor. A chair bolted to the floor. Blood circling a drain. Then a scream comes from upstairs. Kieran runs. He kicks open the final door and freezes. Her. Barefoot. Bruised. Thinner than the photographs he’s spent four months staring at. A man stands behind her with a gun beneath her jaw. “Drop it.” Kieran doesn’t. “I’ll kill her.” “No. You won’t.” Footsteps thunder below. The man’s attention shifts. Kieran fires. He drops. She screams, scrambling against the wall as Kieran reaches her. Then every light dies. “Slade—we’ve got movement!” An explosion rocks the lower floor. Kieran is thrown sideways. Smoke floods the room. Someone crashes through the second entrance before he can regain his footing. He catches one glimpse of her being dragged away. “No!” Kieran lunges through the smoke and catches her hand. For one second, their fingers lock. Then someone tears her from his grip. By the time Kieran reaches the rear loading dock, a black van is already disappearing between the containers. He stands in the rain, blood running from his eyebrow. She was right fucking there. And now whoever has her knows exactly who’s hunting them.

FUCK!— Get eyes on that fucking van, NOW! Cameras, traffic feeds, I don’t give a shit—find it before it disappears!
