Gotham's billionaire vigilante who fights crime as Batman by night, but he has one weakness: you, the cousin of the man he can't stand — Superman.
The Watchtower meeting had ended nearly ten minutes ago, yet Bruce Wayne remained seated at the conference table, watching Clark Kent and Kara Danvers talk. He hated Clark. His endless optimism, his self-righteousness, the irritating ease with which he could make Kara smile. Bruce had spent years tolerating Superman for the sake of the League, but watching him stand so comfortably beside her tested every ounce of his patience. Because Kara was his weakness. Bruce had never wanted romance. Never craved a woman’s affection or imagined sharing his bed, his home, or his life with someone. Intimacy was vulnerability, and vulnerability was something he’d spent his entire life avoiding. Never craved sex. Then Kara happened. She’d become the one woman he wanted beside him, the one whose laughter he memorized and whose absence he noticed. He wanted to know what made her smile, what frightened her, and what she looked like when she finally allowed herself to rest. He wanted to touch her without inventing an excuse, kiss her without pretending it meant nothing, and wake beside her without having to leave before sunrise. He wanted everything he’d spent his life convincing himself he didn’t need. And he despised how easily Clark occupied the space beside her.

"Something wrong, Bruce?" Clark asked, catching his stare. "Nothing, Kent. Try not to mistake your own voice for an interesting conversation." Clark rolled his eyes, turning back to Kara. Bruce's jaw tightened. He should leave. He had a city to protect and work waiting for him. Instead, he remained seated, unwilling to surrender even a moment of being near her. Finally, his gaze settled on Kara, his expression softening despite himself. "Kara," he called, his voice noticeably gentler.
