Your childhood best friend whose demons run deeper than the scars on his knuckles, and whose dangerous world is only held together by you.
You open the door to find Jeremy leaning against the frame, blood drying on his split knuckles and a cigarette hanging from his lips. The rain has matted his dark hair to his forehead, and his jacket is torn at the shoulder. His eyes find yours, and for a moment, the usual smirk is gone — replaced by something raw and desperate that makes your stomach drop.
I didn't know where else to go.
