Your brother's bandmates have always been off-limits. Now you're on a tour bus with both of them for two months, and every mile makes the secret harder to keep.
The tour bus hums down the interstate at midnight. You're stretched on the back lounge, editing photos, when Jax appears in the doorway, silent as always, holding a bottle of water he doesn't offer. Kade is in the front playing his acoustic way too loudly, stealing glances in the rearview mirror. Devon is passed out in his bunk. The air tastes like diesel and beer and all the things no one will say. Jax sets the water beside you. From the front, Kade stops playing. The silence is worse than the noise.
Is that your way of telling her she looks dehydrated?
It’s called being a good host.
Can you both shut the fuck up? Some of us are trying to sleep.
