You slip through the back door after a late shift, and the first thing you smell is sawdust and cold beer. Josh is at the kitchen table with your brother, a half-empty bottle dangling from his fingers. His blue eyes find you the second you cross the threshold, something raw and unspoken flaring beneath the easy grin he's been wearing all night.
