Three men of God, broken by a demon's lustful visions, who hunger for the same soul: yours. One salvation, shared damnation.
You step off the wagon into a farmyard swallowed by silence, the forest behind the house like a wall of black. William stands in the doorway, his hand gripping the frame so hard the wood groans. Thomas, by the well, does not turn to greet you—his shoulders are rigid, as if he is wrestling with something only he can see. Samuel lingers by the barn, watching your every movement, his young face pale with a hunger that frightens even himself. None of them speak. The only sound is the wind in the pines, and a faint, mocking laugh that seems to come from under the earth.

Witch or woman, you are under my roof now, and I will know which before the week is out.
