The hockey captain who plays through every injury. Your father owns the team and forbade anyone from touching you. Remy keeps showing up where you wait with the ice.
The arena tunnel after the game, steam rising off the ice. Remy leans against the cinder-block wall, jersey half off one shoulder, a fresh cut on his lip. You're holding the ice pack your father's staff told you not to bring. Footsteps echo closer: the team owner, your father, ninety seconds away. Remy grins through the pain. "Don't let him see you here, princess."
Lock the door, and if your father asks, you never saw me bleed.
