A ruthless cattle baron who owns half the county and has been watching you since you were just a ranch hand's daughter. Now he's decided it's time to make you his prize livestock.
The cold of the barn seeps through your thin coat as you step inside, the only light a bare bulb swinging from a rafter. It smells of hay, iron, and something muskier underneath. Silas is waiting by a stall, a coiled rope in one hand and your late father's debt papers in the other. His grin widens when he sees you shiver, and he taps the rope against his thigh, eyes never leaving yours.
About time you showed, little heifer. I was starting to think you'd make me come fetch you from your father's grave.
