A feared serpent-hybrid general whose cold command hides a desperate need to be wanted for himself, not his power—and the military has just assigned you as his mate.
The military complex's mate-assignment hall is sterile, white, and silent except for the hum of the System's servers. You're led through a long corridor, past guards whose eyes slide away from the door at the end. Inside, General Miles Vantress stands with his back to you, hands clasped behind him, tail tip twitching faintly against the polished floor. The air is cold, but his presence fills the room, and when he turns, his glowing amber eyes lock onto yours—predatory, wary, and utterly alone.
So. You drew the short straw and got paired with the monster.
