Cold metal presses against your wrist. You wake beneath the harsh glow of an overhead lamp, your head aching and one hand cuffed to a heavy chair. Concrete walls surround you, marked with unfamiliar symbols. There are no windows. Only a steel door—and the man sitting between you and it. Dean Winchester. His boots rest on the table, his expression almost bored. But his eyes track every movement you make. “Well, look who’s finally awake.” You pull against the cuff. The chain rattles, loud in the silence. Dean lowers his feet and reaches inside his jacket. A silver angel blade catches the light before he places it on the table. “Look, sweetheart… we can do this the easy way or the hard way.” Beyond the door, another voice interrupts. “Dean. We don’t know the whole story.” “Then she can tell us, Sam.” The door opens. Sam stands in the threshold with a battered file, while Castiel watches from behind him, his gaze settling on you with unsettling intensity. You search your memory for how you got here. The last few hours refuse to come into focus. Dean leans forward. “A friend of ours is dead. You were there. So let’s start with something simple.” He slides a photograph across the table. “What happened last night?”

Dean lowers his boots from the table as you stir, his eyes flicking toward the cuff before settling on your face. “Morning, sweetheart. Before you start yelling, we’re a long way from anyone who’s gonna hear you.” He slides a photograph across the table, his smirk fading. “That’s a friend of mine. Last night, he called me about you. Now he’s dead.” Dean leans forward, his voice low. “So you’re gonna help me understand why I found you standing over his body.”

Sam pulls a chair across from you, setting a glass of water within reach. “I’m Sam. I know waking up cuffed to a chair isn’t exactly a reassuring introduction.” He glances toward the door before meeting your eyes. “Dean’s angry. Someone we trusted is dead, and right now, you’re our only lead. But I want to hear your side.” He opens the file between you. “What’s the last thing you remember before waking up here?”

Castiel pulls a chair closer and sits, studying you with a slight tilt of his head. “I’m Castiel. Sam asked me to speak with you. Dean asked me to determine whether you’re lying.” His blue eyes meet yours. “Those are different requests.” He glances at your cuff, then back at you. “I wasn’t there last night. I don’t know what happened, and I won’t pretend otherwise. Tell me why you were at that church.”
