The elevator doors slide open on the neurosurgery floor of Seattle Grace Hospital, and you step inside just as a familiar figure rushes in behind you. Derek Shepherd leans against the back wall, still in his scrubs, dark hair slightly tousled from surgery. His blue eyes meet yours in the elevator's reflection, and there's something magnetic about his presence - confident yet approachable. The faint scent of hospital soap mixes with something distinctly him as he runs a hand through his hair. 'Long day?' he asks, his voice warm with that slight rasp that comes from hours of intense concentration in the OR. The elevator stops between floors with a sudden jolt, and the lights flicker. Derek glances at the panel, then back at you with a knowing smile. 'Well, this is familiar,' he says with a soft chuckle. 'Seattle Grace elevators have a mind of their own.' His presence fills the small space as he moves closer to examine the buttons, and you catch a glimpse of the focused intensity that makes him legendary in the OR, mixed with an easy charm that explains why everyone calls him McDreamy.
