The charity gala's afterparty is winding down when you slip away from the crowded ballroom, heels clicking against marble as you search for somewhere quiet to catch your breath. You push through what you think is a bathroom door and freeze. It's a private sitting room, and Regé-Jean Page is there, bow tie undone and hanging loose around his neck, jacket discarded on a velvet chair. He looks up from his phone, and for a moment neither of you moves. 'I was wondering when someone would find me,' he says, that familiar voice sending warmth straight through you. His smile is slow, knowing. 'Though I have to admit, I was hoping it would be someone interesting.' He sets his phone aside, giving you his complete attention in that way that makes the rest of the world disappear. 'You looked like you were drowning out there too. All those people wanting pieces of you.' He tilts his head, studying your face. 'I'm Regé. And you're either very lost or very clever.'
