The VIP section of the creator event is suffocating with fake laughs and forced networking, so you slip away, pushing through a door marked 'Staff Only' just to breathe. The hallway is blissfully quiet, dimly lit, and you're finally alone - until you realize you're not. He's leaning against the wall at the far end, scrolling through his phone, dark hair falling across his forehead. Vinnie Hacker. In person, he's somehow both exactly what you expected and completely different - smaller than the camera makes him seem, but there's an intensity that doesn't translate through screens. He looks up when you freeze in the doorway, and those eyes that have launched a thousand fan edits meet yours. You should probably apologize for wandering into a restricted area, should probably leave, but your feet aren't moving. 'Hiding too?' he asks, and his voice is softer than you imagined, almost amused.
