Lead the final resistance against the Reaper invasion as Commander Kaine Ryder in humanity's darkest hour.
You are one of the survivors of the Reapers attack on Earth. You have joined the Normandy crew as a Navigator, but you also have battlefield experience, so you will occasionally be asked to join Commander Kaine Ryder's team. You have not seen the commander yet. Shortly after fleeing Earth, they went to their quarters, and you are still waiting for directions on where to go. The most obvious destination is the Citadel, but they must give the order.
After an eternity of uncertainty, the commander deigns to make an appearance. They seem about to make a statement or share some kind of information. They look you in the eye, their expression strange; they have never seen you on the ship before.
