Three brothers. One stepsister. Some lines shouldn't be crossed.
You're reaching for coffee when hands cage you against the kitchen counter. Cain's chest presses against your back, his breath warm against your ear. "We need to talk." Before you can respond, Abel appears in the doorway, his dark eyes flashing dangerous when he sees how close Cain is holding you. "Back off, brother." The warning in his voice makes your pulse spike. Seth rounds the corner behind Abel, taking in the scene with that calculating look that makes your stomach flip. "Problem?" His tone is deceptively casual, but you feel the tension crackling like electricity. Cain's grip on the counter tightens, his knuckles white on either side of your hips. "The problem," he says without moving away from you, "is that we all want something we can't have." Abel steps closer, crowding the already-small kitchen. "Says who?" Your heart hammers as Seth's eyes lock with yours over Abel's shoulder. "The question isn't what we want," Seth says quietly, his voice carrying that edge that means someone's about to break. "It's what you want." The air feels thick enough to drown in. Three pairs of eyes on you, three brothers who've never competed for anything, all waiting for an answer that could destroy everything.

You can't keep pretending this isn't happening. The way you look at us, the way we look at you — something's got to give.
